INSPIRED BY NATURE PEACOCK ALUMINUM GATE

INSPIRED BY NATURE

The entrance to a space is more than just a transition—it sets the tone, creates an impression, and sometimes tells a story. In this project, the story was one of elegance and symbolism, with the majestic form of the peacock serving as the centerpiece of a hand-forged aluminum gate.

The design challenge was clear: capture the splendor of the peacock in metal without losing the fluidity and grace that define its feathers. Every curve and every texture had to convey movement and depth, making the gate feel almost alive. The double-door composition's main e presented the most intricate work, with the peacock’s long, flowing tail becoming a sculptural element. Flanking this statement piece, two pedestrian gates introduced bamboo motifs, subtly reinforcing the connection to nature.

Crafting such detail required a combination of techniques—casting, forging, repoussé—all executed by hand. Working with aluminum meant ensuring strength and lightness, while the paint finish brought depth and character.

Maestro Louis Beltran hand-modeling the peacock

The centerpiece of the gate started as a custom sculpture, hand-modeled by Maestro Louis Beltran to capture the bird's natural pose and detail. From his original model, we used the sand-casting technique. The mold is destroyed to release the metal, making the peacock, pièce de résistance, a unique, one-of-a-kind casting that carries the marks of the maker’s hand.

Our master artisans create the "eye" on the feather of the peacock using the repoussé technique

To give the peacock’s plumage its lifelike volume, we employed the repoussé technique. By meticulously hammering the aluminum from the reverse side, our artisans "pushed" the metal into a three-dimensional relief. This process creates a play of light and shadow so deep that the feathers appear to stir with the breeze, turning a rigid plate into a shimmering, tactile sculpture.

OUR

TIMELESS

ARTISTRY

The transition from a two-dimensional sketch to a three-dimensional monument requires a deep dialogue between the artisan and the element.

Aluminum, chosen for its resilience in the coastal Florida climate, demands a masterful touch to achieve the fluid grace of organic life.

Turning challenges into art

The finished installation is a solid example of what happens when a clear architectural vision meets honest, high-level labor. After months of forging, casting, and refining in the shop, seeing the gates integrated into the Miami landscape brings the entire process full circle. The black tone of the finished piece provide a sophisticated contrast to the warm, rugged texture of the native Florida coral stone, creating an entrance that feels both modern and timeless.

Beyond the central peacock, the pedestrian gates offer a masterclass in detail. The bamboo motifs were not simply assembled from pre-made pipes; every node and taper was hand-sculpted to mimic the rhythmic, organic growth of the natural plant.

The true success of the project lies in its functionality. Despite the intricate detail and the heavy visual presence of the metal, the gates operate with a smooth, effortless precision. A functional piece of metal art that breathes with the surrounding greenery.
