A TRUE ROCOCO MODERN JEWEL: THE ART OF THE OCEANFRONT ESTATE

A TRUE MODERN ROCOCO JEWEL

In the world of high-end architecture, there are projects that follow trends and projects that define eras. This Fort Lauderdale estate is the latter—a masterclass in the Rococo Modern style, where the playful opulence of 18th-century Italy and France meets the clean, disciplined lines of contemporary luxury.

Rooted in deep historical research and inspired by the home’s breathtaking views of the Atlantic, every piece of metalwork was conceived as a structural poem. This was a true "meeting of the minds," a creative symphony between our head designer and artist, Maestro Louis Beltran, alongside architect Raphael Portuondo and interior designer Vincenzo Avanzato. Together, they sought to create a residence where the metalwork didn't just sit within the walls, but gave the home its soul.

Bringing a Rococo vision to life in a modern context requires more than just skill; it requires a mastery of different elements like iron, bronze, and aluminum; and a refusal to accept anything less than perfection. In our workshop, the process was one of total immersion into the ornamental vocabulary of the French Royal Arms.

The design begins where the tide meets the shore. A fluid intersection of classical grandeur and the untamed rhythm of the sea, captured in the permanence of metal.

The detail is found in the "micro-architecture" of the piece. We incorporated polished bronze bonbon pistils, cocoons, and imperial finials to provide highlights against the darker, forged ironwork. This rhythmic interplay of light and dark is a hallmark of the Rococo style.
By meticulously hand-polishing the bronze accents, we created a "shimmer" effect that mimics the sun reflecting off the ocean, turning functional gates and doors into sculptural statements of wealth and taste.

The defining jewelry of the home is the casted and repoussé bronze leaves and stylized lilies. To achieve the required depth, each leaf was hand-worked through the repoussé technique, hammering the bronze from the back to create a three-dimensional volume that feels organic and alive. These elements, inspired by the royal heritage of France, were hand-integrated into the sweeping stair railing and the grand entry doors, ensuring that every touchpoint of the home carries a sense of regal history.

Turning challenges into art

The final result is a residence where the metalwork creates a seamless narrative from the moment you approach the driveway. The exterior gates and pedestrian entrances serve as a bold introduction—commanding, symmetrical, and perfectly aligned with the home's neoclassical proportions. Yet, it is the interior where the "Jewel" truly shines. The grand entry door and the sweeping staircase railing act as a singular artistic gesture, leading the eye through a dance of curves and intricate floral motifs.

This project is a testament to the power of a highly personalized approach. From the exquisitely detailed wine cellar door to the elegant exterior balconies, every piece was hand-fitted and installed with the precision of a fine timepiece. The "Rococo Modern" aesthetic is achieved not just through the shapes we chose, but through the quality of the joinery and the depth of the patinas. The metalwork in this estate does more than define the space—it elevates it to the level of a museum. It is a testament to what can be achieved when a client’s dream is translated through the hands of a Master.
